Brandon Norman has been shopping in this store since the week we opened. He's a Navy veteran, he runs a family team on the KCBS circuit, and he won the 2017 Memphis in May World Championship with this sauce — a category win at the biggest barbecue contest there is, about fifteen minutes from our front door.
What I'll tell you about Brandon is that he walks in with a smile already going and a laugh right behind it, he'll help anybody who asks, and he shoots straight every single time. He also comes back off the contest trail with the best stories of anybody who comes through that door. I look forward to seeing his truck in the lot.
The sauce is sweet with a little heat, which is the Memphis profile done right — sweet enough to set up and caramelize on ribs, with enough pepper on the finish to keep it from going flat.
Ribs, shoulder, chicken. Put it on in the last stretch of the cook.
